Author Guidelines

Our publication adheres to a journalistic style of AP Style and in some instances, the AMA Manual of Style.

Our publications are not peer reviewed; they may be reviewed occasionally by members of our editorial advisory boards for technical content. The manuscript will be subject to editing for appropriateness of content, grammar and syntax by editorial staff members. Guest opinion columns run 700-800 words; feature articles run 1,000 to 4,000 words.

After the initial review, the editor-in-chief will inform the author of the manuscript's status via e-mail. A manuscript may be accepted or rejected, or it may need to be revised by the author before a final decision can be made.

We encourage authors to discuss their ideas about potential manuscripts with the editor-in-chief to best tailor it to our audience and to ensure a manuscript on the same topic has not been accepted recently. Query letters should include a paragraph describing the proposed manuscript, its projected length, how the topic will be approached, an outline, a short biographical sketch indicating the author's qualifications for writing the manuscript, and the author's contact information (e-mail and street addresses and day and evening telephone numbers). We do consider completed manuscripts without a prior query. Manuscripts that have been published elsewhere or submitted simultaneously to another journal will not be reviewed nor accepted.

Upon acceptance of the manuscript, the author will be sent a publishing agreement giving us permission and rights to publish the article in the publication and post it to our Web site. An article will not run unless a signed publishing agreement is returned.

Manuscripts should be composed in simple text or Microsoft Word documents. Please do not format the text. Please include references/bibliography for your work if appropriate, numbering references as they appear in numerical order in the manuscript. Tables, diagrams and other artwork such as photos should be submitted as high-resolution JPG or TIFF file formats. Material from PowerPoint presentations cannot be accepted. Queries, manuscripts and artwork should be emailed to Kelly Pyrek, editor in chief, at kpyrek@vpico.com . Or call (480) 990-1101, ext. 1568.

Thank you for your interest in being published in Forensic Focus magazine!.
